What's New for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500?
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a light-duty truck that has been pleasing Baltimore drivers for over twenty years. The 2021 model is the second year of a complete redesign that occurred in 2019. The main changes for 2021 included streamlining the lineup to focus on what drivers want the most. Here are a few of the additions and changes for the new year.
Exterior Changes
For 2021, Chevy added three new exterior colors, and it removed quite a few, too. The exterior colors now include Cherry Red Tincoat, Oxford Brown Metallic, and Mosaic Black Metallic. They also added black-painted aluminum wheels to the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss models that are sure to turn heads around Towson.
Interior Additions
On the interior, Chevy added carpeted floor liners. They also added wireless phone projection for the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps. Sirius XM and OnStar are now available on a broader range of trims than in the past around Parkville, MD. USB ports on a few of the lower trims, including the Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss.
Performance
Perhaps some of the most significant changes are in the turbocharged 2.7-liter I-4 engine and the 3.0-liter I-6 turbo-diesel Duramax engine. These engine choices now have beefier tow ratings. The I-4 gasoline engine can now tow up to 6,800 pounds, and the diesel engine has an increased towing of up to 11,000 pounds around Dundalk, MD. Another change is that the power-up and down tailgate is now available on the LTZ, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims.
Custom Trim
For the Custom, trim the bumpers, and the center grills share the same color with the body. It is also fitted with deep-tinted glass and 20-inch bright silver-painted wheels.
Work Truck
The Silverado WT is unique from other trims as it has the name Chevrolet stamped on the grille and tailgate. It comes with options of three engines the 4.3-liter v6, 2.7-liter Turbo, or 5.3-liter V8.
Powertrains

Another available powertrain is the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with DFM or AFM that produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission on the DFM and six-speed on AFM.
